There are times when it can make perfect sense to use a free web host. Generally speaking, you want to avoid free hosting like the plague, but exceptions do exist. You never want to rely on a free option to support a critical element of your online publishing plan, but you can make it work for you for various supporting projects.
For instance, you can set up a Squidoo lens or two in support of your online publishing projects. They’ll take you very little time and can help with respect to attracting and redirecting traffic to your site. They’ll supply you with backlinks to aid in SEO efforts, too. The same can be said about Blogger.com and free Wordpress blogs. If you use these freely hosted assets wisely, they can help your overall performance.
Again, however, it’s important to remember that you only want to work with free options when you are using them for relatively small and easy to replace support efforts. You don’t want to gamble with a free host on any integral part of your online publishing business.
